Another Craze - Join a CSA

My friend Angela and her kids stopped over this week as a farewell to our moving. She mentioned that she had joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). After we had talked and the kiddos went down for a nap, I googled it and found lots of interesting information. I was able to find 2 CSA's that grow environmentally friendly without using pesticides or chemicals in the area that we are moving to. Both have several pick up areas to pick up your weekly boxes. I am so excited about cooking and eating better. Trying new vegetable will be an adventure.

"Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food direct from a farmer. Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season." www.localharvest.org/csa/
