Cake Class - Level 2

April 25, 2011 - I just finished my Cake Decorating Class Level 2 (flowers & borders). I had so much fun. It was hard to choose what techniques to use on my cake. I am happy with how it turned out.

I loved learning how to make all the different flowers!

I have signed up for Level 3 which is gum paste and fondant. This will be the most challenging! I will have another cake to show you in four weeks.

Earth Week

April 24, 2010 - Home Depot had a special project for kids over the weekend to celebrate Earth Week. Every child got to make a wooden project. We learned that the first Saturday of each month Home Depot offers project for kids free of charge. This was an additional project that was offered. In addition to the wooden project each child was given a tree sapling and a reusable water bottle. We found the perfect spots for our trees and planted them on Easter.
MaKayla took her job very seriously and made sure her tree got a drink of water.

Daddy is helping Noah plant his tree.

Time for a drink.

The kids are helping Daddy with the landscaping.

Happy Resurrection Day!

April 23, 2011 - The night before Easter the kids put out carrots for the Easter Bunny. They decided to taste test them to be sure they were okay.
April 24, 2011 - Happy Resurrection Day! aka Happy Easter!
The Easter Bunny made his visit. He ate his carrots and left jelly beans on the plate. He also left behind filled Easter baskets.

The kids were allowed to look but not touch. Easter is first and foremost about Jesus. We honor him on this morning before anything else. After all, there wouldn't be an Easter if it were not for Jesus dying on the cross for our sins and rising from the dead three days later!

MaKayla had to sneak a peak before getting ready for church.

The kids had to check out the plate of carrots.

Before church we took some pictures.

After church, the kids hunted for their eggs outside.

MaKayla was a little faster than her brother so we had to have her wait so he could find a few before she would take them all.

MaKayla wore her rain boots because it was a little bit muddy.

Found another one!

The naughty squirrels took about 13 of the plastic candy filled eggs for themselves. They didn't touch the hard boiled eggs. I guess we will have to dye more eggs next year.

Noah did really well this year finding eggs.

On the move!

MaKayla loved the egg she found. It must be pink or purple =)

Striking a pose!

Another purple egg!

Finally time to open the Easter baskets.

Little Pet Shop!

Grandma & Grandpa Morris sent the kids Easter baskets.

MaKayla loves the bunny that Grandma & Grandpa gave her.

Noah loves his cars!

One of our Easter traditions is to make resurrection rolls. I didn't take a picture of the one we made this year. MaKayla made them this year and repeated the story for each roll. It really helped her to understand the story of Easter.

Noah is waiting patiently for his turn to get eggs.
MaKayla and Daddy are all tattooed up

MaKayla is anxious for her turn for candy and eggs.

She was on a mission!

The kids had a blast with the Easter activities at church. We ended up with over 5000 people from our community! It is one of our largest communities outreaches.

Dying Easter Eggs

April 22, 2011 - The kids had a lot of fun dying Easter eggs this year.
Our independent girl did not want any help!

Noah decided it was easier to just reach in with his hand to get the egg out.

Pink of course! Is there any other color?

Hard at work!

Happy Birthday Meghyn!

April 21, 2011 - Happy 19th Birthday Meghyn!!! Meghyn loves my cookies so of course I made her a cookie bouquet.
She gave the kids fudge Easter eggs with their names on them. It is a tradition that her Mom has done for her and she wanted to pass it on to our kids. I thought it was very sweet!

Palm Sunday

April 17, 2011 - Our church celebrated Palm Sunday by having the kids get up on stage with palm branches as they sang Hosanna. It was precious!

There was also someone dressed as Jesus and a live donkey named Peaches.

MaKayla did a wonderful job!
