More 4th of July Weekend Fun!

July 6th, 2008
On our way to a birthday party we went through Dixon and the annual 4th of July parade was just beginning. We decided to be fashionably late to the party and enjoy the parade. MaKayla caught on to the candy catching pretty fast and started filling up Daddy’s pocket with sweet goodies.
Here is a picture of the three of us. Noah was sleeping in the stroller and I didn’t want to wake him for the picture.
MaKayla enjoying her first sucker. I didn’t enjoy the sticky mess but oh well!
Dan with Noah
We went to our friends Dan and Shelly to celebrate their daughter Taylor’s first Birthday. It was nice to see so many friends! Here is a picture of Andy with a couple of his racing buddies Dan and Pat with Noah and MaKayla
MaKayla saw the big kids riding the go cart and wanted to try it out for herself. She crawled in and put on the helmet. It was so funny because the helmet was so heavy she couldn’t hold up her head. She loved riding while Daddy drove.
After riding while Daddy drove, MaKayla wanted her hand at driving. She did a very good job for being so young. Of course, Daddy was beaming from ear to ear.
After the birthday party, we went to the Petunia Festival in my hometown of Dixon, IL. MaKayla loved it! Here she is having her first taste of cotton candy.
MaKayla feeding Daddy a handful of cotton candy. Can you say sticky fingers?
MaKayla on Daddy’s shoulders so she can get a good view of the sights.
MaKayla was immediately drawn to the ducky game. She loved picking out her duck so much that he wanted to keep him. She didn’t care about the prize. The man running the game tried to give her a ducky prize but she wanted the ducky she picked out. With a little persuasion, we made the switch.

MaKayla’s favorite ride was the cars, which made Daddy quite proud. I think she ended up going on them four times.

MaKayla and I on the carousal. For not having a nap and not getting home until 10:15pm, MaKayla did really well. She was really tired the next day and didn’t get up until 9:30am.

What fun memories! Isn't it amazing how flexible kids can be with their naps when they're having fun? :)
