Noah's 1st Trip to the Dentist

October 5th, 2010 - We decided to take Noah to the other dentist that was recommended to us to see which of the two we liked better. This one had a huge waiting room with a jungle theme. I was amazed with how beautiful it was and the amount of detail to make it look realistic. The kids loved it! There were monkeys hanging from vines, tigers & lions in trees, birds, etc.
Another view of the waiting room. You can't see it but in the other direction there is a toy bin with all the new Toy Story toys. Noah didn't want to leave when they called his name. I had to promise that he could come back and play after his appointment.
Noah wasn't so sure about having his teeth looked at. He looks so little in the chair.
This is in the back room where you go to get your teeth cleaned. Both of the kids were mesmerized by the life like jungle and of course the cartoons.
This is the gigantic tree in the middle of the room. You can sit on the benches and watch cartoons while your sibling is getting their teeth cleaned.
The hygienist was wonderful. She let Noah play with the tools and gave him drinks of water out of "Mr. Water" to get him used to the instruments. Noah thought "Mr. Thirsty" (spit sucker) was funny. I held him until he started to squirm because he wanted to watch cartoons. Then Daddy took over.
Noah said that "Magic Crystals" (polishing brush) tickled. Once he felt the crystals he said, "Don't like it" so she gave him another drink. Noah didn't get x-rays because they don't start them until age 4. Today was just a cleaning, fluoride treatment and a checkup.
Noah is trying out a new flavor to see if he likes it better.
He did great until it came time for the fluoride treatment. Daddy had to hold him for the hygienist to apply the treatment to his teeth super fast!
Noah meets Dr. Gonzo who was very gentle and good with the kids.
Noah did great for the exam, I was shocked! The hygienist didn't get to clean all of his teeth but she said that it was okay because he did great for his first visit. He did get the fluoride treatment applied which was important. Dr. Gonzo was able to complete the full exam. I am very proud of my little man!
Of course the best part was picking out a cool prize.
Noah picked some "cool dude" glasses.
They also let MaKayla pick a prize, "cool glasses". When we were leaving, MaKayla said she wanted to get her teeth cleaned too. She didn't a cleaning last week at the other dentist. I told her that we would set an appointment and she started to cry because she wanted to get it done today. They said they wanted it to be a good experience for her so they fit her in for a cleaning too.
Since she is older see was okay with sitting in the chair. They gave her some cool pink shades to wear so the light wouldn't bother her. Daddy sat with her and held her hand.
She liked the "Magic Crystals" she especially liked "Mr. Thirsty" she would give him "kisses" (close her month around it quickly". I love how the hygienist used terms that made the kids feel comfortable.
Notice, MaKayla is wearing the same kind of gloves as the hygienist. She liked them because they were purple so the hygienist gave her a pair to wear too.
Dr. Gonzo is showing MaKayla all the cook instruments. MaKayla really liked Dr. Gonzo and said, "Mommy I want to come here instead of the other one." I am happy because so did Andy and I. Both kids were given goodie bags with a thank you card, new tooth brush, tooth paste, floss, a tooth sand time for brushing, a coupon for a free mini pizza from Papa Murphy's, coupon for free cup of custard at Culver's and a coupon for $2 at the Learning Shop. The kids were so excited. I promised the kids that we will go and use their coupons over the weekend since they .were so good
On the way out, the kids wanted to pet the giraffe that was sticking out of the wall. I really liked the dental office. I have never been to a dentist that caters so much to the kids and parents. It was a unique experience that left good memories for my little ones.
Later that night, MaKayla decided she was a dentist and that Daddy needed to have his teeth cleaned. So she went outside to find him working and told him it was time for his cleaning. It really was cute!
"Stick out your tongue."
"Who is next?"
