September 29, 2010 - We have found that there are differences of opinion as to when to start taking a child to the dentist. Some say 3 years of age and other say as soon as they get their first tooth. We opted for the later. There were two pediatric dentists that came highly recommended to us. We looked them both up on the computer and let
MaKayla decided according to the pictures of the doctors and offices. This was her first choice. The pictures made it look a lot bigger than it actually is. The boat is cool but besides that and a couple of chairs that is it for waiting room. There really is not much for the kids to do while they are waiting. I asked to take a tour and was unhappy to see that all the dental chairs are in the same room facing each other. There is no privacy and I could see the possibility of a kid crying and scaring a kid sitting in another chair.
Daddy read
MaKayla a book sitting in the boat while we waited.
MaKayla was so excited about the seeing the dentist that we didn't want to ruin it for her but I was wishing that we would have checked out the other dentist first. She has been begging for weeks to go to dentist and we didn't want to
disappoint her so we decided to keep the appointment.
The
hygienist was super sweet which put me at ease.
MaKayla did great with the x-rays!
She loved the chair that went up and down.
More x-rays! She did wonderful. Even with the little edges that were "
pokey".
Daddy held
MaKayla's hand while the dentist did an exam. She was so excited and told the dentist all about her dance, favorite colors, her nurses uniform, etc. After the exam they wanted to set a second appointment for a cleaning. I thought they would do that all in one appointment but I am glad they didn't. Now we can check out the other dentist and see which one we like better.
The best part was picking out her prize. She looked over her option closely.
In the end, the pink dinosaur was her top choice! She told everyone about her trip to the dentist! To bad we can't charge advertising fees!
