October 24, 2011 - Noah woke up in the middle of the night with a barking cough like a seal. We knew all too well that it was croup! The cough I can handle but when he started to struggle to breathe I had to rush him in to the ER. The poor little thing was panicking because he felt like he couldn't breathe. We were seen as soon as we walked in the door. The ER doctor put him on a breathing treatment right away.
My poor baby! He panicked with the mask at first and I had to hold him and calm him down. Once he realized it was helping him to breathe he relaxed.
He was breathing much better at this point and able to rest.

He was given an oral steroid to help keep the swelling down so he wouldn't struggle with breathing. It tasted terrible! The nurse and I tricked and bribed him as much as possible to get a majority of it down him. For being good, the nurse gave him a Popsicle and cars blanket.
